Godparent/Sponsor Prep
So, you’ve been asked to be a Godparent for someone getting baptized or a sponsor for someone making their Confirmation.
What do you do now?
Obtain a Sacramental Sponsorship Certificate from your residing parish. To do this, you must review and affirm the following:

- MUST NOT BE The parents of the child being baptized, however, the child’s Grandparents are eligible (if they meet all the other requirements).
- MUST BE at least 16 years old.
- MUST BE a practicing Catholic AND be fully initiated into the Catholic church by having received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion.
